The 2017 Mana Whey Coral Coast 7s tournament is likely to come in handy for the Fijiana 7s team who are looking for some talented newcomers, for the upcoming HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens series. The HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series will start on January 28 in Sigatoka which is a 2 day tournament.
Iliesa Tanivula, the head coach of Fijiana said that their main aim is to win the tournament which is only going to help them in the upcoming tournaments.
“We are looking out for some talent in our team which is why we’d like to focus in this competition. We’ll look out for players not only from our team but from other teams as well” said, Tanivula.
Tanivula has previously stated that he has an ambition of elevating the player base in Fijiana and bringing in variations in the Fijian team. International teams like Hong Kong and Japan will also participate in the two day Mana Whey Coral Coast 7s tournament.
“These international teams will only help the scenario of Rugby in this country. The competition will be more dynamic and competitive” said, Tanivula.
Tanivula claimed that this tournament is a serious prospect for the development of Rugby in Fiji. He said that his team had marched last week and they’ll have their final run later this week. The camp of the Fijiana team is at the Uprising Beach Resort at the Pacific Harbour just alongside their men’s team.
