The mansion was made in 1890 by John Mouat, a Scottish colonist who was fond of green forest like buildings and areas. Amid 1889 and 1892, the Mouat Lumber company constructed over 200 buildings in Denver, serving to transform the town from a mining site into the sparkling city that it would turn out to be. Assembled beside Cherry Stream, administering the wild mining site beneath, Mouat built this finest building for his family.
